Mitragyna javanica is a small tree found in Southeast Asia. While Mitragyna javanica has a similar appearance to the Mitragyna speciosa (Kratom), there are huge differences in their chemistry. Mitragyna javanica does not contain the main alkaloids mitragynine and ajmalicine, but similar compounds called mitrajavine and large amounts of 3-isoajmalicine.

The alkaloids from which the products are derived do not includes mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, however, but the similar compounds mitrajavine and large amounts of 3-isoajmalicine.
Also known as Kra Thom Na, the large leaves are specifically selected to be ground into this crushed leaf format of Mitragyna javanica.
